All parishes in the Pewsey Community Area are invited to the next Pewsey Rail User Group which is on Friday 5th October at 7pm in the Pewsey Parish Office, which will include the feedback from the GWR meeting at Westminster and a review of priorities for the service.

Great news – from 30 July you’ll be able to recycle even more!

From 30 July you will be able to recycle:
• Plastic pots, tubs and trays
• Drink and food cartons
In addition to the usual plastic bottles and cardboard, you can include yoghurt pots, plastic trays, margarine tubs, ice cream tubs and juice, milk and soup car tons. These can all go in your blue lidded bin. Please rinse and squash your recycling where possible.

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon

Remuneration: £18,000 + expenses
Hours: Two days per week (the post holder is expected to work flexibly and outside standard working hours.)
Contract: Fixed term, for the duration of PCC’s term of office, ends May 2020

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to support the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) as his Deputy PCC. The successful candidate will be politically aware and astute and be able to provide strategic advice and insight. They will support the PCC in his role as the bridge between the public and their police. You will be prepared to travel the length and breadth of Wiltshire and Swindon acting as the PCC’s representative. This role will involve engagement with local people and partners, while also building and strengthening public confidence.

We need the Deputy PCC to:

  • Seek and represent the views and concerns of the people of Wiltshire and Swindon through a range of means, including attending relevant meetings on behalf of the PCC.
    Report back to the people of Wiltshire and Swindon on behalf of the PCC.
    Develop and promote effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including local and national media, strategic partners and politicians, in order to further the aims and objectives of the PCC.
    Hold portfolios of work as required by the PCC.
    Support the Commissioner, as required, including summarising and briefing the PCC on these issues.
    Assist the PCC in holding the Chief Constable to account.
    Support the PCC with the development and shape of the future strategy.

  • Assisting with unexpected situations when you can’t get somewhere yourself

Especially in rural areas where public transport is limited, this is a good way to help maintain your independence and quality of life. What’s more, you don’t need to be of a certain age to contact Link; anyone who needs assistance is welcome to give them a call, including residents who find themselves without transport on a temporary basis.
